Angeles Academy of Music’s Westwood Village violin faculty is made up of experienced string educators with strong academic and performance backgrounds. Many of our instructors have trained at respected university music programs and conservatories, and bring a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to violin pedagogy. Teachers work with students at every level, from beginners learning foundational technique to advanced violinists preparing for youth orchestras, school ensemble leadership, auditions, and collegiate music programs. With a large faculty across the academy, we are able to carefully match each student with a violin instructor whose teaching style and experience align with the student’s goals and learning approach.
Student Recitals
Many children begin violin lessons around age four, though readiness depends on focus, coordination, and listening skills. Early lessons emphasize posture, rhythm, listening, and basic instrument handling using age-appropriate materials that support healthy physical development and long-term success.
Students often begin playing simple melodies within the first few months. Progress varies based on consistency of practice, lesson attendance, and individual goals. Because the violin requires coordination between both hands and careful listening, steady progress builds over time and accelerates as technique becomes more comfortable.
No prior experience is required. Our instructors work with complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced violinists. Lessons are tailored to each student’s starting point, allowing beginners to build strong fundamentals while helping experienced students refine technique and repertoire.
It is never too late to learn the violin. Many adult students begin later in life or return after years away from the instrument. With focused instruction and consistent practice, adults can develop solid technique and enjoy meaningful musical progress at any age.
