Professional Cello Instructors in Los Angeles
Angeles Academy of Music is home to one of the most comprehensive cello teaching teams in Los Angeles. Our cello faculty includes experienced educators and performers with training from leading university music programs and conservatories. Instructors bring a disciplined, pedagogically sound approach to cello instruction, supporting students at every stage — from beginners developing foundational technique to advanced cellists preparing for orchestral placement, auditions, and collegiate music programs. With multiple academy locations across Los Angeles, we are able to carefully match each student with a cello instructor whose teaching style, experience, and musical focus align with their individual goals.
Student Recitals
The cello is one of the most expressive and versatile instruments in the string family, capable of both lyrical melody and powerful depth. Studying the cello develops coordination, listening skills, discipline, and musical sensitivity, while offering opportunities to perform as a soloist, in chamber groups, and in orchestral settings.
Many children begin cello lessons around age five, though readiness varies. Early instruction focuses on posture, listening, rhythm, and coordination using age-appropriate approaches that support healthy development and long-term success.
Students often begin playing simple pieces within the first few months. Progress depends on consistency, practice habits, and individual goals, with improvement accelerating as coordination and familiarity with the instrument increase.
It is never too late to begin cello lessons. Adult students frequently make strong progress thanks to focus, motivation, and listening skills. With proper guidance, adults can develop solid technique and enjoy playing at any stage of life.
Our Facilities

My son has been enrolled at Angeles Academy of Music for 2 months and we love it here. He is 7.5 and is taking piano lessons for the first time with Tori. She's amazing with kids and he is having fun and learning so much. I love how they tailor what he learns to his interests. Definitely recommend for families looking to introduce their kids to the joy of a musical education.
